How to fix a hole in a fake leather couch. Start by cleaning the area around the tear and trimming up the edges of it. Glue the sub patch to the leather. Run your fingers across the faux leather to either side of the tear. Wait at least 24 hours before continuing the process.
Add another layer of leather filler without drying it. Apply a leather conditioner to the area surrounding the hole to allow the leather compound to adhere better. The filler is a mix of liquid leather compound and adhesive. Press the leather onto the sub patch gently pulling the tear back to its original shape.
Then cut a denim patch to size and insert it behind the tear to act as another layer of substrate. Use tweezers to insert the patch into the tear. Using a staple gun or a hammer and nails replace the broken boards with your new wood. Finally apply leather or fabric glue to the patch and reconnect the tear.
Press the edges of the faux leather against the canvas so it looks natural and hold it for a couple of minutes as directed on the product until the glue dries. Using a large needle or toothpick apply a flexible fabric or leather glue to the underside of the leather. From backing the repair to filling to refinishing. Step 3 cut the patch a little larger than the hole into a circular shape and place it on the underside of the hole.
Spread the glue in a thin layer wherever the leather will contact the sub patch. Secure the board with wood glue and let it dry completely. Repairing a tear in a leather couch is easy and doesn t take long to do. Attach the new wood to the couch.
Simply use the tweezers to push and slide the denim unto the tear. Reattach the spring clips to the new wood. Dry the filler with a hair dryer preferably on low to speed up the drying time. Apply filler if the hole is.
Avoid using your fingers for this as they can cause the faux leather to warp.
